Corporate Car Club

Thinking ahead

The rationale behind the Corporate Car Club.

Consider a few facts*:

  1. In 2006, over half (56%) of all new vehicles in the UK were registered as company cars. In the same year, the number of company cars on the road reached 3 million.
  2. Although company cars represent just 10% of the cars on the UK's roads, because of the high mileage they cover, they're responsible for around 20% of vehicle emissions
  3. As the Government continues to increase motoring costs for all but the greenest cars, there's growing pressure on business to implement a 'greener' fleet policy.
  4. Two-thirds of all companies that have taken steps to reduce emissions as part of their CSR strategy or environmental policy, have saved money as a direct result.

Against this background, there's much to suggest that a scheme like the Corporate Car Club is the way forward for business users. Of course, some car use will always be necessary to keep business moving, but we're committed to reducing the environmental impact of this travel. We're aiming to bring down fleet costs, encourage the sharing of resources, reduce the number of cars on the road, cut vehicle emissions and enhance your business's reputation as a socially and environmentally responsible body.

What's needed is a change in attitudes towards company cars. Currently, choosing a company car is influenced more by status and remuneration than concerns about the environment. But by making visible the cost of company mileage and its effect on the environment, we believe it's possible to change the way people think about business car use.
